Although the weather may be cooling down, Sydney’s mild winter weather still offers plenty of opportunities to head out and make the most of the city’s abundant Winter entertainment and events.
Here are our top 5 things to do, to keep you busy this winter.
Fast becoming an iconic event in Sydney, Vivid illuminates the city with a celebration of light, music and ideas. From 27 May to 18 June, Vivid Sydney hosts a lively and eclectic range of live performances and ground-breaking light shows. This much-loved winter festival is not one to be missed with staged performances and light shows at venues all around the CBD.
With state-of-the-art sporting facilities throughout the city, Sydney plays host to some of the biggest international sporting events in the world, along with some of Australia’s top domestic sporting competitions.
Whatever your preference of sport is, be it hockey, rugby league, netball, soccer or even motor racing, go along and cheer for your team or favorite player, dress up in their colors and have a great time with friends and family at a reasonably low cost for a day/night out.
Sydney hosts a vibrant calendar of theatre and shows, many playing on some of the country’s top stages. It’s also home to one of the world’s most iconic venues, the Sydney Opera House hosting theatre, opera, ballet, concerts and comedy shows throughout the year.

It’s no secret that Sydney has some of the best food in the world, with so much variety and class. Home to cafes, vibrant bars and world class dining experiences, there are plenty of opportunities to tantalise your taste buds across Sydney’s food and wine scene. Some of our favorite locations are Darling Harbour, eat and drink with spectacular water views and late night shopping nearby at the Harbourside Shopping centre. Visit Newtown and stroll down the renowned King Street, there is street food and eat in cafes to suit any taste. Leichhardt certainly has a right to be named one of Sydney’s best food suburbs, with quality restaurants like Portofino, La Botte D’oro, Vanilla Room and numerous great Italian joints.
5. Get Active Indoors
Nothing warms up a Winter like a hands on outing, a great Idea to keep the kids busy or get some exercise while having a blast. Indoor rock climbing is an activity that has sky rocketed in popularity in recent times, there are brand new climbing gyms in Alexandria, Moore Park and St Peters.
