Meet The Locals: Daneale Stride

Daneale Stride is a Senior Property Manager at Metro Realty in Sydney.

She may have only started with us fairly recently, but she brings a wealth of experience developed over years working in the industry, and appreciates how technology and new age thinking can really help achieve great results in property management.

We sat down with Daneale to find out what made her tick and why she loves her job so much.

Hi Daneale, what drew you to a career in real estate?

When I was young I never really knew what I wanted to do. My father always said to find a job that would always be around and that I could do anywhere in the world. He suggested real estate because people always needed a home to live in, whether it be renting or buying. As I got older I decided to give it a try and here I am today.

How did you come to work for Metro Realty?

I was working for another property manager when a recruiter called and mentioned a great office that I would love. Then Joseph Fairchild called me directly to have a chat. We were on the same page about what we wanted from the role and the direction he was heading. It was all really LET’S GO from there!

What do you love most about property management?

Property management is unlike any other job because you are on almost all the time. I love the pace and the challenges it brings. Every day is different and every person you get to meet and talk to has their own stories.

I help investors and tenants with what can be their most important financial decisions but sometimes also their most stressful ones. Someone’s investment is their future and making sure their future is taken care of is of utmost importance to me.

I also really enjoy helping tenants find a home that’s perfect for their needs. It’s really rewarding when someone is super grateful to have found their ideal home.

What are the biggest challenges you face in your role as a property manager?

There are so many challenges that arise as a property manager. We have to keep up with changes in market trends and also the external things that impact us. For example, the COVID-19 pandemic came out of left-field and really pushed us to think outside the box when it came to doing our jobs efficiently and delivering value to our clients.

I look for the positive in everything I do. I find that these challenges really push us to perform better and also make us work out how we can provide an even higher level of service to both customers and clients.

What do you like about working in inner city Sydney? How is it different from other areas?

I absolutely love working in the city! I’ve worked pretty much all over Sydney but I like the inner west and inner city best of all, especially the areas we service such as Pyrmont, Ultimo, Haymarket and the Sydney CBD. I previously managed properties in South West Sydney and a lot were acreages with septic tanks. Learning about that is different compared to working with more units and strata for example and there are very different challenges involved.

What do you expect to see in the market over the coming year or so? Have open borders and easing restrictions affected the inner city market?

We did see a bit of a drop off in renters as a lot of students come from overseas to study and live in the city. We’ve started to see the number of people looking to rent slowly increase compared to when borders closed. I definitely think the market will continue to grow from here.

What do you think Metro Realty does differently from other property managers and real estate agents?

Metro Realty is like your second family. Choosing a property manager is a business decision but for Metro Realty, we really want to get to know our clients and build strong, long-lasting relationships. We want our clients to walk away feeling as though they’ve made a friend with their best interests at heart.

What’s your philosophy on property management?

I believe every property manager provides their own style of managing and different styles work best with different clients and customers. That said, one thing that is universal is that all great property managers are transparent and communication is key.

My approach is to build relationships with my customers and clients. I don’t just want to manage your investments or help you find a home. I also want to get to know you and build a long term relationship. I’ve had tenants from many years ago who still reach out to me looking for properties.

Where would we find you when you’re not at work?

I love training and fitness and I’m usually up at 4:30 am. I love the early start, Early bird gets the worm!

I’m very family oriented so I spend most of my time with my family, taking the kids out to activities like rope climbing, hiking and we love going on holidays. Next is the Great Barrier Reef!
